Has anyone yet tried adapting a Chevy 60 degree V-6 to the Isuzu tranny yet? if so, how big a PITA was that? I've used the chevy 2.8 (modified) before, and have found it to be a good little engine (when properly modified, ie stroked bored, TBI).. I'm thinking it should make a pretty decent powerplant for my '79 LUV. As it sits, my 1.8 is on its last legs, recently it appears to have broken a valve spring, and its oil pressure is mighty low when its warmed up good, so its definitely time to do something.

i think if you are going that far your best bet would be to swap in the engine, trans and transfer case and do a straight axle swap up front...

Do the s10 swap you will have to use the transfer case from a full size truck though like a 208 witch is plenty strong for your aplication.

I've had that thought a few times, and it seems the 3.1 would be a great little engine for the truck. If you can hook it up to a Chevy five speed, it might also bolt up to an automatic.

The Vortec 4.3 that was in my 95 Astro van would make a LUV go pretty good. The Astros had 4 spd. auto trans. in them but the S10's had 5 spd. manuals that could be used. That van got about 20mpg.

Hey, Yes the 60* V6 swap has been done behind an Isuzu tranny, a popular upgrade for guys that have 2.8 Troopers is to swap in a 3.4 from a Camaro, it bolts right up to the Isuzu tranny/t-case and works great, you can find more info at this site http://www.planetisuzoo.com and also in the Isuzu section of this site http://www.4x4wire.com both sites have a bunch of guys that know their way around Isuzu's and are more than willing to share their knowledge. Hope that helps ya
