Hey guys,

I am planning to use the truck for a 355/M22/Ford 9" , but for now it is kind of a weekend cruiser with the stock driveline. I have noticed that the clutch petal and assembly has started shifting towards the driver side footwell, so going more and more to the left. The guy that I bought the truck from had the pedal pressure (to engauge it) almost all the way up, so it felt like a race clutch.

I am wondering if I can change out my pedal with a C-10 or what I can do to fix my pedal. TIA.

Austin

don't think a c-10 would work. You could pull yours out and weld it and brace it with some more metal. Or get another from a yard or someone here and replace it. Seems to be a common problem with them....

i would look to a later modle Isuzu truck. I seem to rember the Trooper pedal assemblies being alot stronger and they looked to be roughly the same size. A full sized truck pedal assembly would be way too big in my opinion.

Ok cool, sounds like I have more options than trying to fab in some crazy oversized deal.

My dad also said there is some holder pin that might have come loose, so this weekend I am going to spend checking it out, or calling wrecking yards to see if I can get another Isusu assembly or something of the sort and see what I can do to make it stronger.

Thanks for the replys and if anyone else has had this problem, feel free to tell me the fix :)

I had the same problem while on vacation a few hundred miles from home. Mine started out getting wobbly and pretty quickly broke completely off. If you are going to continue driving it, start practicing shifts without the clutch right now. You may need to have that skill under your belt pretty soon.

The fix is fairly easy. The challenge is getting the bracket out. You have to disconnect the brake pedal, unbolt the bracket from the firewall and the dash/steering column. I found it easiest to get out by removing the gauge cluster and pulling it though that hole. If you are good at puzzles you should have no problem. :)

Once it is out, it will be obvious what needs to be beefed up. The tab the pivot shaft for the clutch pedal is on is really flimsy. I zapped it back on, then added some additional metal to gusset it up.

Well you guys were right, I have had a lot to do so I finally go to looking at it and taking it out today. The weld holding it all in place broke, so I had a friend who is a welder take it in and she is going to brace it x1000 so it never breaks again haha. Thanks for all your help guys !

I had to drive mine 50 miles without using the clutch at one point, once you get used to it the only thing that screws you up are stop signs and lights. That is a great idea though, I can imagine cases where bump starting would be pretty much impossible.
