Post subject: Is there a kit for me?
PostPosted: Thu Aug 29, 2002 3:51 am
Hello all, this place rocks!

My name is Dave I love my 81LUV 4x4 but I have all I need to put the v-8 in it but still havent found the conversion kit I need. Mind you that its going to have fullsize 3/4ton running gear out of a 72 jeep j20 under it and a slighly of the hook 350 in it. I have "heard" so many different and fluxuating opinions on what will "work", I need something that will be dependable strong and not have monkey with to get it to "work"
any help would be greatly appreciated, and keep up the good work this site kicks A**
Thanks
Dave

P.S. I emailed Advaced adapters THREE times for help and got NADA.

I haven't had any problems nor heard of any with the Hooker Headers kit. I ordered my mounts from PAW ( http://www.pawinc.com ). Part #'s are listed on the luvtruck website under the v8 swap article. I also emailed avanced adapters couple years ago about a swap kit and they said that they didn't have anything for the LUV.

Hey guy's
thanks for the response. But heres the problem I'm still having, The kit from Hooker is for 72-80 2wd LUV's and mine is a 81 4wd, I'm not quite sure the differences between frames if any there are between the two. As we all know the 81-82 LUV's were the last in the line before the S-10's took their spot. So I'm sure their are thing's that were changed however small they were. I guess I'll just have to fab my own or get a used kit from somewhere.

Keep on LUVin
Dave

If you would like i can remove my mounts and try and draw up a detailed picture of mine. My motor mounts bolt directly to the factory pads.It will still require modifications though. I found that a sawsall or cutting wheel was enough to do the job. With this kit you cant run Hooker super comps, you will have to run a Sanderson shorty, and a mini starter. Let me know. Bryan

Hey Bryan

Man let me tell you that is one slick lookin LUV you have, I looked at the pics and it is sweet. As for the drawings if it is'nt too much trouble and you really do'nt mind I would sure like to have a drawing to work with. I sure would appreciate it. And again thanks for the info. By the way I used to live in Washington (Bremerton) and how you keep that LUV rust free and lookin sharp is no small feat keep it up it looks great.

Dave

PPM, or Email me with your mailing address and i will send you drawings that are to actual size on graph paper. These drawings along with the pics should be enough to fabricate a set. Good luck, Bryan

Hey Bryan I would love to get a set of those plans from you if possible? You can Email me a Husker4eva@aol.com and I can shoot you my address. On the Trans mount I would like to know what you are talking about do you have to fabricate a mount for the tranny too? If so I would like to get that from you too.
