Wow, you're running that with the stock rear end? They must be a little stronger than what I was giving them credit for. I bet I can find some 15 inch wheels for it tomorrow. Be a new truck at the track this weekend lol.

an 8" rear end out of a 4x4 toyota would probably make an easy swap in, they're quite strong(will withstand a lot of hp rather easily, the 4x4 ring gear is the same as in the turbo supras in the early 90s), and have 6 lugs.
most have 4.10 gears, but '79 and 80 models should have 4.37s, and 81-83 have 3.90 gears if i remember right. the only downside i can imagine is that they're spring over axle, but it'll jack that back end up a little :)

Well the way I look at it is... i have lots of video and pics of my truck in action but the bottom line is: Who gives a shit? Pictures dont win races... right? Posting pics on the internet after a relatively incident free 17 YEAR (yes thats longer than some of the members of this board have been around) street racing career would just be dumb. Posting pics on the internet after my friends and I just got investigated for Conspiracy related to street racing would be even dumber... catch my drift? Like I say, if you really want to see my truck... get in the other lane and bring lots of $$$ lol. Better hurry before the 454" sbc on a 400 shot goes in... i like to get paid by the carlength :D Come on, Don't be skeeeeeeerd.

Hey Luvsadrag why street race? Are there no tracks to goto where ever1 that shows up can race around there? I mean now I enjoy a good race on the street, pull up next to me and we will go but, I like the track better so I don't have to watch the mirror for blue lights. It's not like it used to be, get a little reckless driving ticket for racing. They have tightened up around here but it sounds like nothing compared to what you have there. That is insane, investigating you for conspiracy for street racing??!! God man that's pretty bad. You know ppl have been street racing forever, not untill "The Fast and the Furious" came out was it such a big deal to every1. I guess that's when all the candy asses realized oh god ppl really do that. They could kill some1    .

I drag race too but not as often. The closest 1/4 mile track is 40 miles away and is pretty beat up. track prep is fair to not so good, they just opened a new 1/8th mile at the local indian reservation and it has good bite but dirty air. i guess you cant win them all. I am just not into 1/8th mile and my LUV doesnt have a set of gears for that at the moment although they are on the way soon.

There is another 1/8th mile "track" that is only 5 miles away but its in the parking lot of Qualcomm stadium. which means no bite at all. but it is also swarming with undercover cops doing intel on street racers. I mean how many drag strips when you pull into tech, ask to see your Drivers license, proof of insurance and the VIN on your car? The cops used this "racelegal" venue as a front to gather intel on my friend at which point they travelled 80 miles out of their san diego jurisdiction to follow my friend to Riverside county to run a sting operation on him. THAT is what lenghts the cops around here will go thru to bust 1 street racer. He was arrested and his car was impounded. while in impound... his car DISAPPEARED!!! high $$$$$ 434 sbc motor, and 3 nitrous systems... EVERYTHING GONE! He was and still is DEVASTATED! There is a lot of speculation and conspiracy theories being thrown around about what happend and the most popular one is that the COPS are the ones that stole it so it would "never be a nuissance" on the streets again. Street racing here in San Diego has a whole hell of a lot more consequence than most other places. Its all a cat and mouse game here so i try to do it as safely and as cautiously as possible.

You can see how the wave of rice and all the BS with 2F2F has made a once pure underground sport all mainstream and fucked up.

This thread is officially jacked.

LOL. Hell nah I aint THAT OLD. more like 34. Actually I would like to come out there one of these days. I have frequented that board before as well as being an avid HRG reader. sounds like my kind of place. you guys got more drag strips than you know what to do with down there. California sucks for its high cost of living, shit traffic, crowded populations and lack of places to run. My LUV is actually going down for a while as the motor has had one too many jugs thru it. 454" sbc in the works and now wrenching on my buddies tube chassis 63 nova street car which is getting a 472" small block on alcohol and 15% nitroumethane.... yeah it really will run on the street too. after that comes together, we may be headed down there for a little trip.

Japanese redneck is the nickname that i earned for being one of the few asians around here that drives Chevies, listens to Heavy Metal, Drinks Coors and (used to) smoke marlboros and ride bikes.

I know its a long haul from SD but maybe we could meet half way ....lets say maybe the track in Texas where this street thing goes down. we got a respectable Luv truck that lets say will go some low to mid 9's . But from all the BS you fling around on here you may need a shovel to dig out and get to the track. I am NOT disputing your word BUT I find it hard to believe you are sprayin 175 shot on a set of hyperyoublows and it not grenading on the first pass. Having been is this sport for 25 years and toasted many A motors and seen many A lucky fellow make the strangest thing work time and time again, I still find that strange. I just think we could get some film time like the Cavalier on HRG .. But as you always say bring the $$$$$$$$ it will cost ya to see how fast the little blue one really is ..

I still love this shit .... Its all in fun Later Spanky

???????????????????????? Are you serious???
What the hell were you smoking during those 25 years? I have sprayed 250 shots on Yepyoucrackedem pistons. I have even done it on true cast pistons. Its not something I recommend but I have done it before and the motors lasted for several months of severe street race duty every weekend. "Im not trying to talk shit, but..." If you have a problem with blowing your junk up, maybe you should revisit your engine building/tuning skills... or maybe try another hobby. I guess I would fall under the lucky fellow making shit work time and time again... but I also know what the fuck I'm doing.

If you ever decide to venture into the real world, check out LS1.com or other Camaro websites. 150 shots is what EVERYBODY sprays their stock piston Camaro's with so.... DING DING DING... school is now in session!

I'm not going to tell u stories about how I am John Forces Japanese son and how we have the fastest street car in the world and rule the streets or anything. I am not even going to say that I am going to drag your azzzzz. All I am saying is if people are curious about what my truck looks like, they are going to have to line up for $$$ cuz they aint gonna see pictures of it on the internet any time soon.

If you think I'm BS about what we run on the streets of San Diego. just pick up July issue of Fastest Street Car magazine and take a look at the "Hell Yes I Street Race" article. Yes, tube chassis street cars, yes running 3 stages, yes on alcohol and nitromethane. Texas has some fast cars... I wont deny... but it aint the only place in the world with fast street cars....

with that being said... Ben, you may have to start up a shit talking section. lol.

I have no idea how I knew you would take offense to what I said but somehow just had a feeling. I never said you didnt have the building skills nor did I say you didnt know what the fuck you were doing did I?? I only made a comment about a product you run, which by the way I have in my motor as well. As for my engine building skills I had one that ran for 11 years and never had the valve covers off of it . I am by no means braggin but I feel that I hold my own pertty well. now for the street racing thing and you bieng so fast I again dont dispute the fact I only said if you were so fast bring the big $$$$$$$ and lets see did I not ??

so dont get all reved up for no reason its only a chat room

LOL. Like you said... its all in fun... I am by no means revved up about anything you just said. Ok, sorry, so maybe I did come off a little harsh but thats just the way I talk to "the doubters" sometimes. I thought you and polishedsteel wanted to start a little friendly shit talk banter ala HRG. But if you must know, your first mistake was saying "But from all the BS you fling around on here you may need a shovel to dig out and get to the track." That implies that I was not being truthful about the stuff I have been saying. Also, I never claimed to be "so fast" I actually have never really discussed my ET's on here before. As I have said on here before... If I have ever been untruthful about anything on this board, it is how SLOW my car is.

I have a friend with an S10 rear end that he would give to me if I want it. Are they strong enough to mess with putting it in?

Never thought about a pinto. That will probably be much easier to find. Although in the classified section, someone has a stock luv rear with a locker running 11's for sale. I have 2 so I may try mine just to see what happens. Never thought it would hold up to that.

in my opinion, an s10 rear is junk. not strong enough to hold up to horsepower

and idea for if you plan on tubbing your fenders for big slicks is to get a fullsize wagoneer rear axle. it's an offset dana 44. take it to a shop and have them cut down the long side to the same width as the short side and just run 2 short side axles in it

My list of things to do has changed a lot now that my motor is junk. Gotta get a motor before I need to worry about the rear end now. Can't save money but for 1 thing at a time.
