Some guy told me that he didnt think it was a 3.8 because that was made for front wheel drive cars?

Also this motor is def a carbed motor from factory because it has the stock gm intake and stock rochester carb.

the buick 3.8 was used in both front and rear wheel drive cars.. depending on the model.
i would agree that it would be the a chevy 3.8 (or a buick 3.8 but i am unsure) but i would listen to the experts :p

Buicks have the distributor in the front of the motor, which is why most of the v6 conversions you see are Buicks (mine for example)

I do believe the former GM mechanic stated it was a 3.8, I know I did, someone posted that the intake numbers you gave were for a 3.8, so...

You don't really need to know exactly what it came from. Just look up a vehicle that the engine came in such as the monte carlo and just go to the auto parts store of your choice and say you need whatever parts it is you are needing.

Ok so i found out it is for sure a 3.8L v6 (229cid) I used the spark plug/cap/rotor and wire to narrow it down and called a machine shop gave them the numbers.

So now we will be doing a tune up and seeing what this bad boy really has.

 Numerous members told you that over 2 weeks ago, people arent going to be offering as much help if the people asking the questions arent going to listen to the answers given.
