cb6tig1, seen the pictures you posted of your 4.3L with the Edelbrock intake manifold and carb. What are the model #'s of them. Might want to use them on the long block for the '86 GMC 4x4 that needs installed unless we opt for a 350?

the carb is a 600cfm its a little big the cam and intake combo. it calls for a 500cfm. but i seen 1 4.3 with a 600cfm it ran ok.
the intake i think its a 2114 i think off the top of my head.lol

What headers are those? Are you running a 4 speed in it?

The 2111 intake is for the non-vortec motor and the 2114 is for the vortec.

What dist. are you running?

It looks very tight but did you have to modify anything to get it in there?

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I've been thinking of doing a 4.3 swap in mine, and I found a perfect donor from a 98 S10. Anyone know how much modding will need to be done to make the EFI work?

Quite a bit actualy, the EFI from a later S10 (CPI or TPI) will require the computer, and the entire wiring harness. You'll also want to make sure you keep it paired with the same type of transmission the computer came with, since in 98 the automatic trans would have been computer controlled.

Honestly, if you can, I would trade that motor out for a TBI 4.3, which even in it's stock TBI form would be easier to get running. Or just convert to carb.

I found a wrecked S10 and was just planning on pulling everything out of it, which includes the entire drivetrain and the harness with the computer. I was prepared for a lot of work, so I guess I was right haha. Thank you!

Well good luck with it, and keep us updated. Seeing a Vortec intake under the hood of the luv would look pretty slick.

That said, once I get a 350 for my 89 S10, the TBI 4.3 will be finding a new home in our LUV (if we manage to get everything taken care of and actually GET the LUV). I would actually prefere to keep it TBI, so I wouldn't have to buy too much extra.

Very late on the scene here but I did a 4.3 TBI swap in my luv. No pictures at the moment, but it was fairly straight forward.

Tore the 1.8 out.
hacked off all motor mounts
put the 4.3 in.
marked where motor mounts should be mad
fabed motor mounts out of 5/16" plate: triangle shaped things which the mounts on the motor bolt up to.
Welded these up to frame
put motor in
cut hole in firewall, the TBI computer goes though it and sits below the pass. glovebox
Radiator needs to be changed around, running 16" push fan in front of radiator

Yeah...simple as can be.

The 4.3 will sit in the engine bay with no body lift at all. You'll have to ditch the pully driven fan though, I'm running an electric fan. Works fine.
You'll be able to mount a tranny of your choice behind the 4.3, also w/ no lift. I'm running a TH350, but I'm going to tear that out for a 700R4 in the next week or so.

I'm using the stock manifolds which came with the engine. They fit perfectly within the frame, no massaging necessary. Cut the factory Y pipe right after the O2 sensor and fabbed my own 2 1/2" exhaust which dumps behind the rear axle.
