Has anybody ever written down the demsion and hole center to center specs. for hooker p/n 12630 transmission mount bracket.I cant' believe that they want $125. for such a simple bracket, It shoudn't cost more than $15.00 to make!!! I was thinking of taking a piece of angle iron for the making the mounting piont and three other pieces of flat stock to make the transmission mounting tab and 2 braces.-Brian

If you decide you want to make some. I'll buy motor mounts and trans mount off you for less than what hooker wants :-)

I made my own motor mounts, and your right about the trani mount, it wouldnt be shit to make if you had the dimen. to follow. Maybe if Dennis reads this post before he bolts his stuff in, he can get a pic or 2 w/ some numbers for ya!

I just pulled the trans and block back out of mine. I'll see if I can't send you some pics. It's not that tough to build, but goes better if you have an idea on whats needed. I did like luvnit and fabbed my own mounts and extended the crossmember mount myself. It only took me an afternoon worth of work, I just tacked it together with my flux core rig and hauled the truck to a buddies shop to have them mig welded properly. I cleaned everythig up real well and bought the beer and pizza. I'm running Hooker 1 7/8 super comp block huggers.

On my first build i just used a 6in. long piece of 4in. channel iron drilled 2 holes to make a 1in slot. Use a turbo 400 trans mount as they only use one bolt instead of two like the turbo 350. I welded the channel on then welded a gusset from the bottom of the cross member to about half way on the new mount, this worked good with my 4spd LUV when i had a chev motor in it. Now i have a 455 Buick 4spd in it and i built a removable cross member as changing a trans with out it can be a*&^%$#@. I will try to get pic's for those who might be interested in building one.

I wasn't about to spend that money either so i built one out of a flat peice of metal. I just built one thats about the same as the stock one but just made one that was a little longer to hold the tranny. All you need is a peice of flat metal, a big hammer a vice and a drill. Took me about 3 hours to bend it he way i wanted then i just drilled some holes in as if it where the stock one. I would put a pic on here if i knew how. [/img]

sorry, The picture turned out so small. try to save it and print out a copy to read. these are the measurement I came up with today. The mounting bolts are 10mmx 1.5 as far as the elongated hole for the transmission mount I don't know the center to center hole spec yet! I need to but the mount. I measured off a buick single stud mount to get this measurement. I will make a few more notes as far as outside bracket measurement when I get input or I will come up with the specs that will fit on the crossmember. I hoping to get all this info gathered up and send it to a friend who has a flow-jet so and a metal brake so he can produce a few!!-Brian

 well, I double checked all my measurements and this is what I came up with!!. I was thinking it would be easy to make out of a piece of 4x6 rectangle steel, If you cut on the sides and bent them out , it would make the mounting ears and then cuts could be made on the side of the bracket at a angle for the gusset. this would require no welding. please check my measurements off any hooker brackets and I will make any changes. I assume the postion of the transmission mounting hole will change depending on the location of the engine mounts!- Let me know what you think!!
