it's a little generic, but gives you a good idea of what to expect

this is not necessarilty true. my conversion was originally done before March 1984 and i have to have a PCV valve on my motor:)

according to a referee that i talked to, once you have the tag you can put a blower and nitrous on it and take it in for inspection as long as its still a "327 chevy" small block, its all good.

i gotta dig up my dig cam and take some pics I'll try to get a shot of the BAR tag. The BAR puts it in the door jamb of the vehicle. i hope its not a problem getting another one when i decide to have my truck painted.

I believe 1978 was the last year for the 400 in trucks.
Good luck

Also, you will need to be rechecked every other year just like your other cars.
I just wanted to make sure you don't take it all off and throw it away after you pass.

DO NOT USE 882's they are prone to cracking and have the worst port design of all the 2.02 heads. Even with porting they still flow like ass compared to just about any other early head. if you want good open chamber heads try to round up some 993 heads off a target master motor. they have the heaviest casting of the later model open chamber heads in that era and will easily be ported to 170cc. I swear by these heads.

BTW have you considered late model Vortec heads? or the SR Torquer heads by world? The SR's are considered OEM replacement heads but are more performance oriented than a factory head.

for a big inch motor like what you are considering none of these heads will really flow enough for it if you run any kind of hot setup. I would consider keeping it at 406 ish displacement.
