Hey guys, I am getting ready for my SBC conversion into my LUV, I have my SBC, a M21 muncie, and I want to buy a bolt in rear end setup. I was wondering if anybody knew the filiment for a 2003 S-10 3.42 gear. Measurements say it is 54" wide at wheel mounting points. 48" at the backing plate and 38.5 to spring mount centers. That is all the ebay says but if you want to check please do.

Thanks a lot,
Austin

that rear is a direct bolt in replacement but don't get to crazy with it and bolt on slicks becouse you will break an axle but for daily driving that rear would last a very very long time

it will handle slicks fine... for a while, just be mellow in ur daily driving and save its strength for them races. dumping the clutch on a muncie will kill it fast but not as fast as an automatic with a snappy shift kit

Thanks to the replys, I understand its capabilities, I was just wondering if that differential was the one that will bolt into my 1980, cheers.

Oh and I heard that the problem on those differentials is that there are C-clips in it, and there are c clip eliminators ? Anybody have any comments on that ?

Do you plan on using slicks? I would consider c clip eliminators if I was going to use slicks. The guy that does my rear end work says that c clip eliminators leak and he doesnt like them but I would rather keep an eye on my gear oil than lose a wheel. Thats just my opinion.

A 9 inch will be the last rear end you will buy for your LUV, good choice.

good choice on the 9" Thats all i ever run in my hot rods
just out of curiosity, what are you running in your motor?
I had a 10 bolt in my 93 Z28 daily driver that held up behind a 3000 stall converter, 28x10 slicks and 150 shots. Severe street race duty almost every weekend for 2 years before i sold it. The rear end was a stock 3.23 gear stock LSD carrier, C clips and everything and was still tight the day i sold it.

I am going to be running a 350 block .30 over to a 355, fairly mild motor, with a slightly aggressive cam, aluminium heads and intake manifold topped with a demon carb.

Do you have specs on a ford 9", I am a total noobie when it comes to ford 9", I just want to be able to buy one and take it to a shop with a list of specs i need it cut to haha :)

Where are you located at, the shop that did mine has a adjustable jig set up for any length and even has new or used housings available.

Just checked, JEGS is the one with the axle housing and axles for the S-10, they are by currie and it is to the tune of 980 w/o shipping. Looks good to me, it just needs gears now.

Shot me a PM with what you want including gears and what type of carrier, ie limited slip, mini spool, full spool, or even a tru trac locker. If you know the dimensions include that as well. Also let me know if you want drum or wilwood disc breaks, I am sure I can save you a ton of money. The quote from Coast driveline is free.

For more info on Coast go to http://www.coastdriveline.com

If you go to their site you can see that the major mags use them due to the fact they have a great record. I can get you a discount as I am a friend of the mgr.
