Well I've been lurking around the gemini forum for a few days now, and in doing so I've gotten a mess of ideas on what all can be done to the G180.
you can turbo it, blow it(the car kind), fuel inject it, or any combonation of the above.

So here's my idea:
I think it would be pretty cool if one was to get ahold of a SC14 supercharger off of a 'Yota, and in addition to that getting the efi setup off of a Impulse(non-turbo), slap a intercooler in there and working it all togetter to make a nice little 200+hp Luv. Oh and to take care of all of the efi wiring, screw trying to figure out the Impulse harness and ecu, and then trying to connect it with the Luv's harness. What I would do would have the engine controlled by a MegaSquirt, that way i could fine tune the engine, and get rid of a bunch of head scratching wondering where this or that went.

well tell me what y'all think, as of now it's just an idea...but you never know

i think that would be perty sweet. Sounds like most all of the parts are realy easy to get too(with exception of the impulse manifolds and injection)...

well the SC14 is proving to be a bugger to find, I've been searching around for one and so far have only found 1. the fuel injection stuff would be easy to find, I can use the same manifold off of a 4ZE1, and then just swap in different injectors to match the engine. every thing else is just a matter of paying for it.

The 2.6 manifold is just slightly different. On the G180 there is a tiny hole in the head between #3 and #4 intake runners that goes into the head's water passage. The 2.3 and 2.6 don't have that same hole. If you keep that blocked off the runner ports and front water passage line up though. A 93+ 2.6 throttle body and intake would flow more than enough to breathe a few more horses into a 1.8L.

I've got a 2.3L FI intake from my Impulse sitting around and the thought struck me to give it a shot too, but I like things simple. There was more vac and fuel line on that 2.3L manifold than on any 5 stock LUVs.

Yeah, there is that issue, blocking that port off may cause some cooling issues. the vac lines don't scare me that much, I have lots of experiece working on the 4ZE1, I pretty much have the vac line diagram memorized, not really that hard getting every thing hooked up right, you just have to know what line connects to what. Yeah if I couldn't get ahold of a Impulse intake I'd use a 93 or newer 4ZE1 intake, and for the MAF I'd also use a 93 or newer. If I do go ahead and do this I'd do the EFI setup first, and then later on add in the supercharger to the system.

Were/are there any fuel injected G-series motors? If you could find a fuel injected one, run a MegaSquirt, and turbo the hell out of that motor. I know alot of people use Garrett T3 Super 60s for over 200hp on the Saturn 1.9L engine. A t3/t4 turbo would work good as well for over 200hp. I know alot about turbocharging, but very little about the isuzu G180.

::evil thoughts:: maybe when I pull the engine/trans out of my luv, i should rebuild it with forged internals for LOTS of boost.

I don't think there was ever a fuel injected G180 but I believe they got a Fuelie version of the G200 down under, check out http://www.ozgemini.com there is a TON of info on there about turboing and building up the G-series motors.
