hey guys i need all ur help. i got this 454 for 650bucks and i want to put it on one of my luvs but i also want to put this toyota front end that i have laying on my back yard my question was what kind of headers can i use? also im cuting the firewall and moving it back to make room for the motor. i finish puting the 350 on my 80 but i think its not fast enough for me. i want more power can anyone help? also can i use the hooker mounts to mount the motor even if it means some mods?

you can use the hooker mounts and you should be able to use block hugger headers for a bbc or otherwise you are looking at some custom headers. keep in mind when you add a bbc you are adding about 200# to the truck. if its a stock bbc dont expect a world of difference from a 350. Yes the overall potential of a 454 is greater than a small block but at the level you're at (mild bbc vs mild sbc) , you are just as well off with bolting on some performance on your 350

it is wider. i swithed from a 350 to a 468. i used a motor plate on the front. i custom made my own headers from a headman 2&1/8'' weld up kit. i put them on the wrong side kind of upside down and they exit in the fender wells. 1st run went 10.68 last weekend and going again this weekend for some tunning and low 10's

If you loose the torsion bars and move the engine back, you can use camaro headers. Depending on brand you may have to cut right side of frame and modify it. I had flowtech camaro/nova headers on mine.

IT'S WIDER FOR SURE . NOT SURE IF THERE IS ENOUGH ROOM FOR A HEADER BETWEEN THE BLOCK AND FRAME. IF IT'S A MILD BBC GO WITH SOME BLOCK HUGGERS. USIND A MOTOR PLATE IS EASIER AND MAKES MORE ROOM FOR HEADERS. CHECK OUT MINE IN THE GALLARY. JEFF FOREMAN

the motor plate is home made from 1/4" aluminum plate bought at the local metal shop $20 . i then traced it from a friends bbc motor plate and built the side mounts from angle iron. u can get them from jegs for $100 if can not do the work yourself. the upside is extra room for headers not having to deal with motor mounts. i did not find a good header that will fit. you can run shorty headers if it's a mild bbc. i used a headman weld up kit 2-1/8" chop cut rebuild.
