Has anyone done a V 8 swap with a manual trans? And if so which trans did you use and how well has it worked?
Is it too much torque for the frame if you get rough on it?

I dont have a manual tranny (but a th350) but the frame on mine takes the torque well.

The frame is the toughest part of the truck 8)

Lots of folks here have healthy v8's in their truck with no mods to the frame.

I'd also like info on manual tranmissions in v8 luvs. How difficult is it to use the existing hydraulics (older models) for the clutch? Or would it be better to go with a cable?

Here's what the Hooker conversion directions states:

NOTE: IF A MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS TO INSTALLED AND HOOKER CLUTCH CABLE BRACKET IS TO BE USED, IT WILL BE NECISSARY
TO BUY AND INSTALL A 1975-77 MONZA V8 BELLHOUSING AND THROW OUT BEARING ARM. IF A HYDRALIC CLUTCH
ASSEMBLY IS TO BE USED, REPLACE STOCK MASTER CYLINDER CLUTCH WITH A CHEVY TRUCK SLAVE CYLINDER #EW3447
EIS PART NO. FABRICATE A BRACKET TO BOLT SLAVE CYLINDER AS CLOSE TO STOCK BELLHOUSING AND IN STRAIGHT LINE
WITH THROW OUT BEARING ARM.

Sounds like adapting hydraulics to the clutch is easier than hunting down a bell housing and swapping parts.

Never knew you could replace a Master Clutch Cylinder with a Slave Cylinder! How would that work? or am I reading it right?

I think it's a misprint on their part. It's more likely that they would suggest that you swap slave cylinder and fab a bracket to fit.
