Post subject: Hooker Engine Swap Kit
PostPosted: Wed Dec 01, 2004 1:05 pm
I have a 81 Chevy Luv. Will the Hooker Engine Swap Kit work in a 81:?:
The Hooker kit is made for the 1972 thru 1980 Chevy Luv Truck's.
I called Hooker and they didn't know! My truck has a Chevy 4.3 with a 350 trans in it. The engine and trans mounts that are in it are home made mounts. They are hard mounts, ( no rubber ). I want to put a 350 SB in it. The mounts in it will probably work, but you never know!! Also will the Hooker Headers fit the 81 Luv :?: I did a search and didn't find anything!

maybe they will see this thread and be able to shed some light.
I think you may end up making the motor mounts.
why not turbo the 4.3??? :D

I saw that one too! I thought about building the 4.3. It has a 4bbl on it! Wonder how a 4.3 would run with a good cam, forged pistons and nitrous!!

I have seen some fast cars with 4.3's in them, but it costs about as much to get a 4.3 to run as fast as a V8 from what I understand if not more.
good luck!

you should check on some of the S-10 sites for thier 4.3L tech stuff. might give you some ideas on what you already have.
http://www.mys10.com/forum/topics.asp is one of the sites with some info on them.

My brother has a 4.3 in his truck that he hopped up. Forged pistons, cam and heads on it but it doesnt run that great. He has all stock stuff on the outside though. He spent about $2500 on it and its still slow so i would go with the v8.

I have a freind, Cody, with a Chevy smallblock v8 in an '81 Luv. Check out our website http://community.webshots.com/user/farmer_joe_and_his_s10 it has better pictures of the motor mounts and other things like that. :)

i wonder, would the SBC mounts work for the 4.3 in a luv, since the 4.3 is based on the SBC?
