how do you check the voltage regulator to see if it's gone bad?

nevermind, auto zone tested it, and it failed miserably, 6 out of 6 tests. lol. so I figure this out after installing a new starter, battery, and alternator. lol. not that it didn't need those things, it was just the voltage regulator that was causing the charging problems. (crossing fingers nothing else goes wrong) gonna get a new one tomorrow. $25 at auto zone, and shucks had it for $50! 8O
