i was just wondering would it be better to put the 1.9l into my luv with the 5 speed or should i just keep my motor and find goodies for it. i also wnat to know is there any like performance cams pistons any thing that can make the stock motor alittle faster. i have a webber carb on my truck now and hope to get it jetted its putting to much gas into the motor right now but thats ok i makes for some loud ass back fires. i am still a newbe to the luv seen but i know enought about cars but i want to know more.

i'd run a compression test and see what kind of shape the 1.8 motor is in. if the compression is good i'd keep it.

dude the motor is hella strong no compression loss my trucks motor has only 76,000 factory miles. its realy strong i just have to hhave the carb tuned because its way to rich i think. that means that there is to much fule for the truck to burn. its not super bad but when i really step on the gas it kinda sputters. i think the 1.8L can be fast i mean i pulled on a 240sx but they had more top end and i couldnt catch them. the girl that was driving called my luv a "stupid datsun" and i said "its on bitch" and my friend said "its called a LUV cant you read." i thought it was hella funny.

If you don't get anywhere jetting your carb to solve the backfires (which I am assuming are coming out the tailpipe) try taking the belt off the air pump and run the heck out of it to see if that cures your backfire problem.
