I'm getting a Chevy luv (1980) this next week already lowered comes gutted, no motor, idk if theres a tranny if there is its up for grabs I don't want it. The next day I'm getting a Chevy Astro van (1998), which comes stock with an AWD drivetrain and 190hp to the wheels. I'm gonna have probably 40-80 hours into this project by the time that the damn chassis from the Astro is under the luv, but its so worth it.

Now for the performance. Here's where I struggle; I don't know chevy's. I know toyotas. hondas. not chevy.
From what I've heard, you can throw flathead vortec pistons in and it'll increase compression to approx 10.8:1 or something.
I don't know a lot about chevy motors except they're cheap as hell to work on, and replace.

So for the drivetrain; I was looking to see if anyone knew where to get the Transfercase from the syclones or the typhoons, because I am not sure what the Astro's awd pulls, but the Typhoon has a 35% front 65% rear distribution of power. Also; If anyone knows where to get a turbo manifold; 4.3l H.O. turbo manifold (dont' think its different than normal EFI 4.3) I'd probably roll over for ya.

Into it I'm gonna throw grey/black schemed Tenzo Type R rally seats, and figure out a sound system. I'm trying to find a stepside bed as we speak; however it's harder than I thought.

I cant help you with the transfer case problem, but you can get a marine intake manifold with external injectors that will bolt on to a 4.3, and allow you to turbo/supercharge the engine. Go here for an in depth description of the conversion . http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums/sh ... full-Hints

I was going to turbo my 98 s10 but didnt want to fool with my dd. Good luck on the project, sounds like a blast

4X4 is 4X4 the S10's,Astros,Syclones,and Typhoons all have pretty much the same transfer case which by the way will not work in a Luv 4X4 as the out put for the front is on the wrong side. You will need the out put of the early (passenger side) transfer case.

? I'm confused on the transfercase ordeal. Honestly, I'm going to make the Luv a Gorgeous yard ornament until I can figure out what further to do. I'm buying some Jesse James wheels 18" hopefully tomorrow from someone close here; I'm buying Tenzo Racing seats from my cousin; I'm just spending money on it so far.

As for the astro. I was lovin the idea of it; until I came accross one problem. It has a digital fuckin dashboard, which means (Unless any of you all know how to fuck with that) I'd have to carry over the gay dash. Not feelin that. If ANYONE has an idea on what to do here; because it is All electronic on the 98 astro, please let me know. Idk if I even wanna mess with the astro anymore, unless I can keep my axles. Does anyone know if this is possible either? I don't want 5x5 lug pattern I can't find ANY rims for that on craigslist; Those Sick ass Jesse James ones wouldn't even fit. Quite the disappointment.

If all else fails I'm gonna talk to my team today; I Really don't wanna but I might just have to drop a 350 in it. Does anyone know of a carb. 4.3l that could put out 300hp no prob? Didn't think so :( Anyone has ideas let me know.

You can get aftermarket gauges that will work with the electronic factory stuff. And language please, some people have kids that look at the boards...

if you were to use the astro's chassis with engine/trans then i dont see the huge problem since you wouldnt be using the luvs axles the side that the stock front diff is on wouldnt matter if your doing a body swap...
you could shorten and narrow the astro frame a bit, shorten the axles... you could even use the astros gauge cluster if you kept the harness for it and didnt mess with the wiring for it... label whats what and do a bit of dash customizing to fit it...
it really all comes down to how much time and effort you want to put into having a (possibly the first) AWD turbo luv

I can offer a little help here. I used to own a 92 GMC Typhoon. The 91 Syclone used the AWD T-case from the safari, no difference at all as far as output. The Typhoon used the T-case from the Bravada. The differences were all cosmetic as they had the same output so you are fine as far as that goes. As far as the digital dash goes I was looking to swap a digital dash INTO my typhoon (I know they sucked but it made it look a little more updated). Now since most of the digital dashes crapped out there are a 100 posts on the net on how to swap a digital to analog, but very few on how to go from analog to digital. Hope it helps.
