They hold up very well, assuming you are not gonna run slicks or put any serious (600+ ft/lb) power to it. You will want to make sure you connect the kick down cable up CORRECTLY, so this will require you to re-index the pivot point on the carb so it has the correct throw. Mess this up and you will be lucky to see it live 20k miles. Also the 700R4's have an electronic "lock up" converter, you will see a 4 pin plug on the passenger side of the tranny case, this is the connector for the lock-up or "TCC". If you hook that up - you can just use a switch to engage the TCC solenoid, or if you feel like dropping the valve body, you can put an extra check ball in so that the converter locks up in OD automaticly - no wires needed at all. I suggest the switch, and if you want to get real fancy, put in a vacuum switch so the TCC will unlock when going up hills, or when a load is put on it, especialy if you drive it a lot. If you want something more bulletproof, you can still find 4L80(E)'s with the correct housing, these are like a TH400 with overdrive, and can handle upwards of 1000+ ft/lb of torque in stock form. FYI
Do you happen to have pics or a diagram on how to hook up the plug and kickdown? I just put one in my truck and I have the kick down hooked up to the carb.
