Mine work fine, remember the weight has not changed much, its just running higher speeds at the track but fine around town.

Again, please look at the dates you are posting to. You are bringing up posts that are old and dead.

In regards to your question about the durabilty of the stock front disc brakes, these are way under rated, these brakes will easily hold much more weight than you have to stop!! I suggest you up grade your rear end brakes if you change anything! When you go to a sbc you will undoubtedly install a bigger rear end and these come with much larger brakes so this will help too... cross drilling the rotors does help under racing situations but won't be noticeable during regular driving.
I currently have a 9" rear end out of a 70 Mustang in my 78 and it will throw you thru the windshield!! 11" X 2.5 brakes!!!
By the way I live in Riverside and go to Irwindale regularly! I am parting out a 78 stepside, the one mentioned above, as well as an 81 formerly diesel powered LUV, so if you need any advice or other help pls contact me.
There are several of us around this area with sbc powered LUVs, I know one who owns 5 of them!!
Glad to help...
