Was the axles on a 1980 gas 4wd luv geared higher than the axles on a 1982 diesel 4wd luv? Are the two axles interchangeable? I want to get better mileage out of my diesel 4wd and first gear is a little too low for me. I have the other axles laying around and didn't know if the work was worth the trouble or not. Thank you for any replies> Jer

Both are Isuzu 10-bolts, 4.10 ratio.
1st gear on a diesel tranny is about 4:1, an early gasser is about 3.85:1.
