I have my old booster and master cylinder pulled off but it will be the weekend before I can get over there to measure the booster if I still have it , but I know I have the master cylinder still , but I will if you want me too.

What booster? you can run the brakes just fine without a booster with the right master. The one in the pic is a mid ninty's Jeep Cherokee and is aluminum. I also have a Nissan disc/disc master that works quite well. Pinto master work good to.

I really do not know if they are any good but PM if you are interested ,you can have them for shipping and I will check this weekend. i have to see if I still have the booster I am not really sure. I have yet to have the truck on the road I ripped out the drive train when I bought it and installed the SBC.

all i have is the master cylinder, i do not have the booster , sorry

I agree with TJ- e.i. do away with the booster. Just installed a booster off of a 90's Plymoouth Voyager and was able to Power brake the engine to 3000 rpm. Launched it in the garage and saw the wheels come up 1" off the floor and easily stopped before it hit the work bench.

Small,really-about 2.5 luv trucks long. Spun the slicks about 8'.
Did well at the drags last week end. Last season we we in the low 11's. Changed to 5qts of 10w30 Royal Purple, installed new plug wires and added a new fuel pump with a braided line log. Ran in the tens-10.95,10.97,10.94 etc. In the final round Phil went up against his brother and won.

When buying a used car, punch the buttons on the radio. If all the stations are rock and roll, there's a good chance the transmission is shot!!!

Go to your auto parts and look at old Isuzus, Toyotas, S-10 ect. Maybe try Honda, Nissan, Ranger yada yada yada. You have to be careful of the master cylinder bore size cause it's all calibrated, but it's mostly common sense too. If you get something close to the same size it should work ok for you.

Have you tried to measure yours yet, and have you checked the hoses for any leakage? Loosen the bolts, and run a tape behind it across the holes. Also an easy way to check for vacuum leaks is to have it running and spray WD-40 at all the connections and anywhere you think it might be leaking. Feel around the bottom of the hoses. They split underneath where you can't see them just to piss you off.

Major bump ....
Here is my problem...I unhooked my powerbrakes when I went with a sbc..I just the pulled hose because the pedal pressure was not consistant. When I was braking the pedal stayed consistant until a certain point in pedal travel then would go soft for about an 1". The problem was when it did this the stopping power would not fad resulting in a sudden increase in brake pressure and a sudden stop. After the pedal pressure would fad for the inch or so the pedal pressure would come back.

I just installed a cannister and guage. Still does it. But I have noticed it does it when there is about 10-11 inches of vacuum and regains pedal pressure at around 7-8 inches. The stopping power is unaffected but its quite annoying while driving on the street. Is this the brake booster or something else? Also I see in this thread that some are using a different master. Do they provide the stopping power of the of the boosted stock brakes?

Also I do hear a SLIGHT squeak when this happens. But if the booster was leaking why would it only do it at 10'' of vacuum?


Now if I need a booster where is the best place to get one?
