between the g180 and g200 the differences are a simple as bore size and combustion chamber size(head) i've never seen the g240. :signanyone

there's other sub models of engine though.... like the g180z(twin cam) g200z(same) neither of these are compatible with the non "z" blocks.and are a holy grail to find in the states......

how about the bolt patterns on these elusive z engines??? are they a direct bolt in????reason i ask is my '79 drinks about 3 cases of oil a year and blows a head gasket about once a year (granted i'm good at changing them and have all the parts ready on my wall (5 hour job) but its hard to depend on it when i'm hunting or taking it to work on a 120 deg day. the arizona department of environmental quality wants to be stupid about a v8 or v6 conversion so here i am trying to be cheap and still acheive some miniscule of performance from my $200 work horse.

a special note on this truck... i or should i say my cousin has proof that this truck was capable back in 1999 of earning him a 90 mph in a 35 mph speeding ticket on a flat country road. and its the only long bed LUV with dealer bucket seats i've ever seen

The 1.8 G180 is 75 hp, the 1.9 G200 is about 90 stock except for the Impulse 1.9 G200 engines that are around 100 stock due to taller pistons and a bit beefier cam. They all have the same size crank and rods, but have different heads and the 1.9 G200 engine's head has bigger valves.

All will bolt right into a Luv with the second generation engine that was standard after '74.

Finding a 1.9 G200 block out of a carbed Impulse and using your 1.8 G180 head on it IMHO would give you the highest compression engine with the most hp for your $$.
