Anyone thought about using MacPherson struts on the front of a Luv? Many years ago my friend had one put on his record holding drag car, a 63 corvette. This was in the early 80's and was a fairly new thing. It took the shop a long time to do it, but he turned out to be sort of a crook in later dealings with other people. I think it was another story of getting over head on the amount of work he was doing and too much money (cash) that it could not leave it alone.

Too much work? To complicated? Worked on a lot of it on my VW's and it can be made to work very good, and light weight.
What you think?

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Your biggest hurdle is that the Luv is a body mounted on a chassis. Its mounted by flexible rubbers.

The top of the strut is held by the body. The movement between the body and the chassis will not do you any favours.

If you extended the chassis up to hold the top of the strut the weight involved would not make it worth while.

But you would be pretty right with the luv lower arm. It would be a good cantidate for going under a strut seeing as how its held fore and aft with a strut bar and all.

Coil over shockers are easier.

Bob.
