Hey guys I just bought this luv with a 350/350 combo and I saw the stock rear so I thought it would have like 2.73's in it or something so I bought it and I want to drive the thing to work everyday but that thing revs like crazy on the freeway. I did some searching and it looks like they came with 4.56's that sucks is there any way that I can get a different center section with gears that are closer to 2.73's or somthing. I'm not trying to go fast I just want to drive the thing without spending $20 a day on gas. I'm not looking to change the whole rear because I like the stock wheels and hubcaps. thanks a lot.

P.S. I'm looking to go to the junkyard tomorrow and pull whatever center section you guys tell me so whatever input you have would help a lot

From what I understand the automatic transmission Luv's came with something like a 4:11 There may be something from a Trooper or something more along the lines you are looking for. Another way would be to use a something like a 700r4 or the stronger versions on that one.

More folks can address this better than I can. All I have had was a 4x4 Luv and a V8 one.

look for a 81-87 diesel pup rearend. they have 3.42s and 3.73s and will bolt right in.

I would be looking at upgrading the diff to something stronger.

Put some big tyres on the back of it for now, that will get your speed up and revs down, keep in mind it will have your speedo out by heaps as well.

Isuzu impulse, they have 3.9 rear gears and if you get your diff centre out of a manual one it should be LSD. The diff centres are the same in Isuzus thru till 87.

How long it would last behind a 350 im not too sure.
