I've been told on here that a 86-90 tropper tranny will bolt to my
80 luv 4x4 and that I will just need to change the front driveline. I found out that mid year in 87 the troopers tranny changed from cast iron to aluminum. I found a 84 1.9Liter 5spd online it loooks like it might work but I am wondering if anyone on here has acutally put a trooper tranny
in there luv.
Thanks! =-)

Hey! I'm not exactly sure which Trooper tranny will bolt up, but I would like to do it (in the future) too. I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before so maybe a search would help you. I'll see what I can find out...

I just need 2 things more and my garage will be a full service shop. A chop saw, (getting a dewalt 14 inch from lowes 120 bux.) and a plasma cutter (not getting one for a while from lincoln electrics for 2000 bux) I am ready to start building my new chassis. I have to wait till friday so I can buy the cop saw and the steel. My welder will be here Thursday.

Don't get miffed. Just givin you a little shit. It feels like troopers either have a higher first gear of a higher gear ratio than luvs. Thats what it feels like when I drove one.

You really don't have a transfer case in a luv. They are one unit. The t-case is just a propeller shaft drive. It is made into the transmission.

That little box under the 4 w d shifter is the front output shaft.

But its still called a "transfer case". :P Even if you look at the GM shop manual, it refers to the different sections of the tranny separately, and calls it a transfer case. Just givin you a little shit. :P
