Well I was going to put a s10 rear end in my luv and probably still will. ...just to get a higher gear but anyways I was told that the stock rear end was stronger than a s10 rear end. I put it to the test. I locked it in first and let it rip!!!!LOL It turned both back tires down the whole dang road! I couldnt even see my buddy next to me! When I stopped I had no rubber!!HA HA HA It was great! moral of the story ...The rear end held up pretty good but I need the 3:73 posi lol not 4:56 non posi!!

In high school I had a friend with a 74 Datsun truck with a 302, Auto trans. and a non posi ford rear in it. Skinny tires too.
At 45mph he could hit it, it would kick down to 2nd. and re-burn out down the street forever.

I don't think the stock LUV rearends are stronger than the S10 ones. I've shelled way more Isuzu rears than the 7.5's. The 7.5's aren't all that good either. Both will hold up pretty well on street tires, but just wait til you start trying to get either one to hook...

I had problems with my stock rear breaking the passenger side shaft on my old truck. I did have a good friend machine two full size chevy 6 lug axles down to fit and that seemed to fix the problem. I think the stock one will hold unless you bolt a set of slicks up.

Thanks,
Craig

One problem with the s-10 rear end no one here has mentioned is that it is a c-clip axle rear end,if you break a axle you lose the tire&wheel and whatever body panel it was under.I would build a 9 inch

Thats a good trick.

We had a 10 bolt diff and the bearing was held on with a press fit collar. They popped off on occasion. The commercial diff had a bigger wider collar. With a lazy axle behind the diff tack welding them on was a solution to counter the extra forces.

Hows this

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300143144731&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020

Im the bargain king :smt023

Only crap thing is the 4.5" ford pattern.
Seems to be in good order, think its LSD too. The brakes need to be redone, im looking at discs.

Im working on the front conversion. Ive got 300x28mm rotors and big twin piston calipers. The rotors slip over the hub/studs and ive got a set of toyota drum hubs.

Just not sure which vehicle to put it in, ive got a Piazza (Impulse) here too that i could use. Gears are to high and i dont have a V8. I do have 2x 3.8 V6 From a Holden Commodore (so its really a Buick). Both have 700R's behind em but ive got a T5 and i might use that but i need to make an adapter or bellhousing.

Bob.

I was able to modify the stock ones's by elongating the hole and using o'rielly's universal u bolts from the help section . I'll get you a part # . Here's a couple of shots .
