I'm getting my hands on a 2.6 and 5 speed to put in my lowrider. I know about adding a header, msd box , camshaft. Does anyone know what i do to the fuel side(bigger injector , chip). The drivetrain is out of a 1992 Rodeo 2wd.

Chip isn't gonna do squat for that engine...you could put bigger injectors in...not sure how much of a power increase your going to see...you swapping the FI over? good luck with the wiring...I'd be interested to see how it goes 8)

Could I get by without injectors? I know some people would take a 350 and add a cam, headers, and bore them 0.30 and run a quadrajet. I just want a mild cam, 0.30 over, header, bigger coil. Maybe a MSD box. You know-the same that everyone else wants. LOL

The intake and carb setup from an older 2.3 bolts right on to a 2.6, then with a little bit larger weber like a 38/38 model, it should be pretty beefy.

Then you could completely do away with all of the injectors and that whole wiring nightmare. Not sure about the ignition stuff, but hopefully one from an older 2.3 would work too.

You can find used weber's and complete rebuild kits from them on ebay pretty cheap, and http://car-part.com/ should be able to hook you up with the rest.

The 2.6's put out 125 hp stock with the smog crap and air conditioning connected, so when you get it all done, it should be a huge step up from a stock 75 hp 1.8 for sure.

Good luck and please keep us all informed of your progress, because there are a few others around here thinking of doing the same thing.

I was wanting to keep the fuel injection. Besides, a set of injectors should be cheaper than a weber carb.

Bigger injectors won't do a lot of good unless you can get more air moving into it. The stock 2.6L injectors would probably give enough fuel for most anything you could do without adding some boost. That said, you can upgrade them. As I hear it, they are pretty standard so you just look for something that dumps more CCs and has the right connector.

Either way the best thing you can do for a 2.3L-2.6L is change the cam. That will help it breathe a bit.

If your not going forced induction, a 2.3L head will bump up compression but has slightly smaller ports.

What i would look for would be a 4bbl Offenhauser manifold to suilt a luv-I Mark and make that fit.

Thats for petrol, my first preferance is to go straight Propane. Its easy to do with the EFI manifold but you will need a recurved 2.3L distributor.
Cam and a bit higher compression would help too.

Bob.

If you can find one, and if it is still original, the 2.3L head from the Impulse non-turbo has the same size ports and valves as the 2.6L. The difference on my 2.3L was really noticable. The cam on the Imp 2.3L also has more lift/duration, so if you can find an unmolested Impulse motor to pull parts from you could get a double upgrade in the head. The only telling mark I could find on mine Imp head was that it said "4ZD1" on the back where the truck 2.3L head said "4ZD1/C1" but if you get the two side by side you can see the port size different on the intake.
