anybody know if an early (round) inst. panel will, or can be modified to work in an '80 model dash?

I thing it can be done. From what little knowlege I have about the dash's I think it would be easy. I am sure 800 will find this post and confirm.

anybody know if an early (round) inst. panel will, or can be modified to work in an '80 model dash?

Early models had oval inst panal and later one's had round.

the panel will physically fit, but i believe the early wiring is a little different... especially the 72 dash

yea, i meant oval. i thuoght it would fit but not sure about the connections. i also have some blue l.e.ds i would like to try to replace the clear bulbs with.

Physically it will fit right in, but the wiring may be an issue. I can check the connectors, I think they are actually the same connector, but there may be a wire or two that isn't in the same spot.

The 72 gauges look just about like the later stuff (pre-78), but are put in completely different. Each pod is a separate unit that goes into a backplate. The wiring is also totally different.
