Ok i'm not a luv truck guy i'm a BRAT guy. but one of my friends has a sweet 78 and he pulled the motor to put in a trany and now it wont start. it is getting gas its getting spark, the engine timing is perfect, flipped the disributer 180 degrees, the firing order is right and still nothing but turning over. if any of you can give me some ideas that would be awsome.
thanks,
Matt

if you have spark, you need air and fuel. is it getting fuel? vac lines where they need to be?

yeah all the vac lines are where they need to be and there is atleast fuel going to the carb. its not flooding out the float bowl is not going dry the distributer has been flipped 180* and it still wont fire up but it will turn over. i'm going to see if there is a crack somewhere and test all plugs for fire, but if thats all in order what could it be?

Just pulling the motor should not have done anything at all to how it runs. Most likely thing seems like it would be a loose wire that didn't get hooked back up. Wires to the carb all hooked up, wire to the distributor on good, condensor hooked up? The distributor only goes in one way, so you can't put it in backwards. Get it timed, check the point gap, make sure all the right wires are hooked up, and it should go.

Just keep double checking things and I'm sure you'll get it going again. Even if you think you've got fuel, it wouldn't hurt to try pouring a bit down the carb. If that gets it to pop over some then you know where the problem is.
