ok heres the deal. I am putting a new motor in my 80 4x4, the motor came from the local wrecking yard and is out of a 79. The E.G.R. valve and all the doo-hickie vacume lines are still there, even the little ( I guess you would call it a dashpot vacume is still there. Its on the passenger side up by the head where if there was a mechcanical fuel pump would be if there was a mechanical fuel pump.) It looks like it went to the E.G.R. valve. Do any of you guys know where I can get a gander at a vacume line routing guide??? I would like to still use it because its still there. If not I will just plug everything up and TRY TO keep the oil clean and fresh, but that can get expensive!! I prefer to use a synthetic oil and as you all know that crap is rather expensive. I have looked in all my books and I can not find a vacume line routing guide!!! And what is that little vacume line out of the oil pan for??? Should I just plug everything up and not worry about it?? I dont have emission testing here in Idaho, so I am not worried about emissions. But like I said before, the stuff is there and is all in good shape, I would like to try to use it. ANY HELP WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks
Brother B.

Well the one from the pan goes to the check and relief valve. Identified by 3 connections one to aircleaner one to vapor canister and other to crankcase.
If it doesn't snow to much here tonight I will look and see if I have dashpot on my truck. Only dashpot I can think of is the one for throttle linkage.

I bet the thing you are talking about says B P T somewhere on it, it is the back pressure transducer. It should have a line out the bottom that goes to a steel hard line coming out of the EGR valve's exhaust side. The rest is marked on it, it will have a port marked carb and one marked valve. The one to the carb actually goes to the thermal valve on the intake, and then to the carb.

Oh and yeah, I do have the vac routing commited to memory. ;)

There was a post someone did here with pictures of the vac routing. Search for "vac routing diagram" or "vacuum diagram" or something like that, I would do it but I'm feeling lazy tonight.

Brother B.
Do you have a smog test down there in Lewiston? If not take all those little 1/4" vacuum lines off except the one to the distributor and cap off the ports. I ran that way in Coeur d Alene with my '80 and had none of the problems when the little suckers were all hooked up.
