I had one of the tailgate hinges break off of my 77 stepside. The hinge tore in half right where it bolts on to the underside of the tail gate itself so I only need to repair or replace the half that bolts to the tail gate.

I've already scoured all of the wrecking yards in my area. Diddn't find any stepside's. But FYI I did find:

2 Luv's in the Rancho Cordova pick n' pull and 2 Luv's in the South Sacramento pick n' pull. There were none at the Richmond, CA pick n' pull as of last week. Also I saw a V8 Luv for sale on Cohasset Rd north of Chico CA for $1000.00....but I digress...

Does any know where I can get my hands on a hinge? Anyone had experience and/or advice on getting one fabricated?

Yes I have one but they are welded to the box and bolted to the gate ill see if I can cut the welds this weekend and will let you know. I need to get 2 others off for a friend of mine that bought a tail gate anyway

Thanks for offering to attempt to obtain a hinge for me!! I would be eternally in your debt!!

I actually only need the part that is bolted/screwed into the bottom of the tailgate so if it would be easier to just knock out the pin and undo the bolts/screws, that would work for me.

If there is anything I can do in return, just let me know.
