Fellas,
I've got the weber on and she runs really nice.... EXCEPT the fact that it backfires when shifting quite a bit. AND I was unloading my bike off the bed today and the smell/tinge coming from the exhaust about made me gag.... what do you think???

Its running rich i would say. In the litereture i have for my weber it says to tune the carb by first botoming out the mixture then bringing it back out 2 turns. So just tighten it down (lightly though so you dont damage the needle) then bring it out 2 turns. From there just take and lean it out untill the truck sounds like its going to stall. Give it just enough mixture to idle. Then set the idle screw for the rpm you whant and run the mixture screw in untill the truck almost stalls, then run it back out untill it idles smooth. Check timing and adjust as nesicary, then go and adjust the idle speed and mixture again. It seems like a long drawn out proces but it its not too hard and dosnt take too long. Also Weber stright up says not to trust the factory settings on the carbs since they just put them together and dont set them to a runable state.

One more vote for too rich. At least the Weber is really easy to adjust the mixture.
