ok..... i give up.... how the hell do i PROPERLY set the choke on this damn thing.

i've tried warming it up all the way and setting it to just barely close the butterflies, but then it won't start easy when it's hot out.

what gives? they didnt send me any literature besides the float level instructions and a parts list. the rebuild kit for my craptachi did though.

Chokes are set cold. Usually to less than 1/16" closed. Best done early in the morning, when it's coldest.

well the hi idle screw is on the back side of the carb under the choke thermostat. Next time you start it up cold adjust that down some, it should idle at about 1200 cold. As far as adjusting up the butterflies goes, about 1/16" open is how i have mine set and it works great.

What he said......i finaly got mine dialed in after 6 months......i actualy used a dime for the gap. the high idle does change quite a bit, i had to change mine every summer and winter since we have a huge diffrence in the climate.

also after you get it set, if you have an abnormaly cold morning it will run really fast for a minute or two. it doesn't hurt though, your cam wears more at low rpm and a high rpm just gets the oil flowin quicker anywho.
