I've seen some old threads on this but nothing specific. I have a 79 4x4 with shot bushings an replacement parts are N/A. What's a good fix? What have you done? Thanks in advance. Robin

I order the bushing awhile back off Napaonline.com
I dont think you can get the oil seal on the bracket.
If you can't find it, I'll dig out my reciept and get the part number.

If anyone reads this who is a machinst, I encourage you to to
make this seal. I am sure all the stock Luv 4x4 could use this part

when i sat down awhile ago to find out what kind of bushings, body mounts, misc suspension stuff i needed i also found nothing too for idler arm bushings either :( everything else was easy to find, exept those bushings. i checked pretty much every parts store but still came up empty handed :( if you do find something please let me know :)

you might try just getting the inside and outside diameter of the bushing and going to a machine shop. They could make one for you. Aside from that the center tie rod link might come whith it and i know NAPA caries those.

Thanks for the info guys. I got off my lazy butt Sat and crawled under my parts rig. The idler arm assy is in better shape than I recalled so I pirated it. For those interested it appears that the shaft and bushing assy are the same as a 2by, just the arm itself is different. I haven't crawled under my 2by to confirm that but will tomorrow 8) then post here.

I can confirm that. The shaft and bracket are the same part number 72-80 2by or 4by. The arm is different for the 4by but that is all. I believe (not certain and parts book isn't handy to me) that the 81 and newer stuff have a different shaft/bracket setup. It might fit, but I am pretty sure it is different.

Yup ,that's what it looks like. So you can get the bushings from NAPA. They do list the 2by bushings but no mention of interchangability. Not that my parts guy told me at any rate. A cheery ending to a frustrating situation :D Now to go for a drive and probably find out I have to pull the front calipers apart cause it was sitting too long. I've found they tend to rust up and not release if the rig sits too long. If it ain't one thing it's another. Don't ya just LUV it??

Calipers are a fun one. I have taken them apart on just about every LUV I've owned. Seems like you usually just have to tear them apart, clean the piston with some very fine (600+) sandpaper, and clean up the bore a little too. Especially the lip between the boot and the seal, seems to like to rust like crazy right there. I've put one caliper kit in one of my trucks, but it really didn't need it except the boot had a tear in it. Napa does carry the kits though. You could probably buy one in case you need it, do one side, and if you are careful not to rip the boot getting it out, you can move on to the other side. If all goes well, you return the kit unopened. Rarely is the seal bad enough that it must be replaced. I have had one where the pistons were crusty though, but I think http://www.rockauto.com has them available, not to mention fully rebuilt calipers as a whole.

I took the idler arm off my 86 parts Trooper. Looks like a perfect fit...
