Ok here is the plan crazy as it seems.
There is a V8 out there that is solid and pretty strong. And it weighs as much if not less than the 1.8,

I am thinking of some how getting this engine in the truck with a transmission 4 spd? that will fit and the only thing I need to do is change the lenght of the driveshafts.

Does anybody know of the engine I am speaking of........

hint it's a american engine

olds/buick 215 or 300 v-8. it had alum block, heads and intake. this engine evolved into the v-8 engine in the mg and later in the land rovers. it could be had with a turbo back in the early '60s in the old jetfire and later variants had efi in the land rovers.. it has the B-O-P bellhousing bolt pattern and it a fairly light motor. the homebuilt aircraft companies had kits to use this motor due to it's light weight.
