Is there anyone who has installed a small block ford and tranny? Would you do it again? Were there any unusual problems, like with motor mounts, etc.? Im looking to put a V8 in the long bed I have, its just that recently there seems to be more ford beaters I can get cheap than general motors. Thanks for any ideas! :drinking:

The only thing about a Ford is Hooker makes motor mounts for a sbc in a LUV. You'd have to weld or otherwise mount your own Ford mounts into the LUV.

I just bought 80 luv and the engine is out and Im looking for mustang 2. Im going to use the entire drivetrain. There may be interverence with the front steering arms, if so Im going to install front suspension with kit from one of the hot rod outfits. I had a 77 luv with 327 chevy and I drove the daylights out of it for 5 years before I gave it to my daughter. Im thinking ford cause it is lighter. I had a 9" ford with 2.57 gears and got 25 miles to the gallon. Im thinking with 302 and high way type gears in rear with c-4 I might be able to do a little better. I intend to use luv daily to comute to work, 120 miles round trip. When I start the instalation I try and post pics as I go. Ive done the chevy install and it is easy. I think the ford will be alot more work but thats hot rodding.

Im a plaster by trade and 120 miles a day aint bad. When I was in Oregon I drove 320 miles a day. Being in the union I was trying to build up retirement hours after 1999 I took a non union job so I only have to drive 120, Ha ha. One has to do what one has to do.
