my 78 1.8 eats like av-8 [yeah I posted this on drivetrain etc. DOH! ] its mostlly stock.I do have a cd ignition which seemed to make it better.Upon doing my eigth grade math it seems Im getting ,maybe 17 mpg in town. what do you all think? Carb? I dont seem to be losing oil it passed smog [!]

Hmmm, mine only gets 21 on the highway, not sure if that is normal or not either.. if it is normal then 17 in town, is probably ok

Does yours have the 4.56 gears? I sorta figgered it was like that for most of the older trucks,searched the info gallery and saw a brochure that said 24 city I think.Not bad for being a 27 year old engine. 10-q

my 78 2wd gets 24 in town 27-28 on the highway,the 80 4x4 gets 22-23
in town and 26-27 on the highway
