What is probably happening is that rain water is getting on the distributor and/or plugs, shorting the ignition wiring out, when the truck stalls for a few minutes the heat from the motor dries it out, then you are able to restart the motor until the next few puddles.
The best fix is to seal the ignition wires to the plugs and the coil. Pull back the boots on each ignition wire at both ends. Get some ignition siliconized sealer or siliconize grease (from a auto parts store) and place a small amount between the boot and the ends and a little around the posts. Slide the boot back to distributor post or plugs over the grease or sealer you just installed. This will seal the it up and prevent water form shorting things up.
