 Post subject: temp sending unit

couple of days ago I put a new bypass hose on my 1980 1.8 . when i got thru my temp guage was not working. I was thinking maybe I knocked the wire of off the temp sending unit when i was pulling the hose thru it was up under the carb. i was looking for the sending unit and for the life of me i cant find it. can anybody tell me where it is mounted

It is just about straight under the thermostat housing where your top radiator hose hooks onto the motor. Maybe a little forward and outward from dead center of that housing. Feel around and you should find something that feels like a bolt end. It has a tip shaped sort of like the head of a nail that the wire connector slips over. When you are feeling around for it though it feels more like a bolt than a nail.
