I posted this ...but need help...Chev. luv 1.8 isuzu..changed head gasket now it mashes the plugs shut..no noise just closes the gap doubled the rings on plug still does it//any and all help appreciated..just an okie a little short of a full load...thanks Jim..dhalluin@hintonet.net

I have never heard of anything like that before.... Wait a few hours though, there's over 200 people on this board now, and hopefully someone will have a suggestion or 2 for you.

did this happen b4 you changed the head gasket? are the plugs the correct ones?

Well, logically, the only thing that could hit the spark plug would be the piston. I think that even with no head gasket, the piston still shouldn't hit the spark plug.

My guess is that you have the wrong spark plugs in it. I can't think of any other reason that would happen.

i agree with you ben, wrong plugs. maybe he should try shorter plugs.

Yep, seen it happen to a buddy. Not on a luv but it has to be the wrong plugs. Of course it seems like everytime I tinker with my engine, the engine gnomes come and steal the hard to find bolt or gasket that I need to finish the project, or mess with my tunning while I am asleep . Damn gnomes.

gnomes don't come near my garage anymore.
I caught one, tortured it and hung it out front.

if you can catch one do the same.
you won't have any more problems.....LOL
