The auto choke wire should be 12v with the motor running. The 75 wiring diagram shows the choke wire going to the black/red stripe wire that goes back to the fuel pump. Another spot you could tap basically the same source would be at the coil. The wire leading into the resistor on the coil will have 12v when the truck is running. You could probably get away with running it to something hot when the key is on, but you'd want to watch having the key on and the truck not running. The choke will pull off and it might not want to start cold.

Well outside the US I guess I can't be too sure anything isn't possible, but it should be there somewhere unless you've gone to an electronic ignition. Even the series 1 wiring diagram shows it being there somewhere. The original one looks like a little metal box, screwed down to the bracket that holds the coil, at least on 76-up trucks. I imagine older models would be similar.

I guess it doesn't really matter too much as far as the choke wiring. Though straight 12v to the coil usually means you change points about a set per tank of gas. ;) Just wire the choke to something at least switched by the key being ON, not on ACC. Best case you find something that is only on when the motor is running, but tied to the key should be ok. If you do it like that the choke will pull itself off with the key on even if the truck isn't running and warming up. You'd have to turn the key off and let it cool down to get the choke back on for a cold startup. Just don't sit with the key on waiting to start it up when its cold. It is better than not having the choke pull off at all though.

Install a small V8 w/manuel choke and Forget about your problems.
That is my opinion, but I never had problems out of my 4 banger, before the V8 went in. Sorry about the No help...... :?:
