All,
I found this on the interent today on another forum and as of Jan 2005, this was still true. I copied the post so you can read it as is...

Quote:
You can get an invoice thru this source. They only can recreate invoices (only Dealer Invoice) from 1978 and up car/trucks. Some 1977 data is available but most 1977 and earlier was purged from the system long time ago.
Must have the correct VIN, triple check it before sending it.
GMMA.research@gm.com
1-800-851-8984.
There is only 1 girl that does this and it may take some time for her to search for it. She has done both my cars. It will list all the options and also the original dealership to which it was sent. It also list the MSRP of the options along with the Invoice price.

Best of all......it is FREE!!!

I thought is sounded a little too good to be true, but I emailed my VIN numbers and sure enough, received a envelope from GM Media Archives in the mail a few weeks later with the invoice. I recommend it to everyone without original paperwork to verify any original or rare options.

I sent in my VIN and am waiting impatiently..

Roadshow Bob,
I have the original invoice that that came with my truck when i got it. I think it is the same thing you are talking about here?

It has all the options listed with option numbers and the name of the dealer where delivered. I also have the paperwork from the trucking company that delivered it. The port of entry was Jacksonville Fla?

I don`t know how to post pics on this site or i would post it.

I also have a 1980 2x4 that i will send the vin in for it. All i know about it is, that it was sold new in California.

Thank you for posting this info! This is the kind of stuff i`m into.

Ike

yeah, i'm into it too. i recieved the restoration package and it's got a lot of cool info in it. it's a photocopy so the pics are crappy which is the only bad thing about it. but the written info kicks butt.

I just got this in about the invoices:
Quote:
As of 3/13/05 all requests for a copy of a dealer invoice is being handled by an outside vendor. They now cost $50 for each VIN # and expect to wait about 2-3 weeks for it.

Email:vehicleinvoice@gmmediaarchive.com

I am trying to verify that.. this sucks much :( :(
