hey everyone I'm new to this forum and to luv's so I'm looking for some of the wisdom of many you who have had luv's for year's
I have an 81 4wd and the clutch is going out. I'm going to pull the engine and do a couple other mods (weber carb ) but I was wondering what brand clutch would you recommend. I just want something that will last awhile, it has the stock engine( 1.8 isuzu and 4 speed trans). also will those 5 speed trannys from the diesels and the isuzu pups mate up to the stock engine, wouldn't mind having that overdrive.

I can't believe the deal I got for this luv. I paid 225 from the original owner it has 90K original miles and the bodys pretty straight a little dent on the hood and one of the rims isnt mathching but i just couldnt pass it up. My dad has had Luvs in the past and always talked highly of them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I don't know about clutch brands, mine came with the truck. All I had to do was put it in, (what a pain).

As for the 5-spd. It will bolt right up to the engine, but I've heard you have to manufacture some stuff to make it really work. Including: new shifter hole, new tranny mount, e-brake bracket, and a shortened rear driveline, cause the 5-spd is just a few inches longer. If you're still interested I'm sure someone here can fill you in on more details or point you to a thread, cause believe me, it's been talked about alot.

Welcome to the sight and happy Luvin'

centerforce makes a clutch i believe for your truck
performance but be prepared to spend about 200-250 dollars
last a lot longer than a 60 dollar clutch also
i think its worth the money

Thanks

More problems though i was out driving it around today and then i just lost power. It's like it was getting no fuel, when i pushed on the gas my rpm didn't rise but i could here the carb sucking. then when I looked at it there seemed to be extra fuel in the carb. I don't no much about carbs but i no that they can be tricky any advice would be appreciated

The stock carburators on these trucks are painfully troublsesome and complicated. Most people, once they start having carb problems cannot make them go away until they get a new one, and even then there's problems. The direction most people go, as long as they don't have to worry about emissions is to buy a weber carburator.
