So who elses's shift boot is long gone? I went through a couple of after market ones that didn't hold up very well. I figured a new stock one would be a lost cause. So I made one.

I had a square metal frame left from one of the junky ones. It was 4'' x 5'' inside. I started out making a couple of paper triangles one 4'' at the base and 7'' on the side. I then put the 4'' one a piece of paper and traced around it. I took the 5'' one and put its 7'' side next to the 7'' side of the first one and traced it, and then did it again on the other side. I then cut the 4'' one in half and traced the pieces next to the 5'' ones. That gave me a pattern to use with black vinyl. I made things 1/2'' bigger for a seam and to tuck under the metal frame. I then sort of rolled it up and glued the overlapping seam. When it was dry, I then pulled it up through the metal frame and glued the sides one at a time to it. When everything was dry, I cut just enough off the tip to fit over the shift lever, and screwed the frame to the floor. Works nice for now. I will see how long it lasts.

it does sound like it would work.

If your shifter boot isnt lasting long, are you making sure its the right size and are you letting it dry out?
i use armor all on mine, and still havent gotten any tears.

The ones that didn't last were something I bought that was all I could find and didn't look right. Sure enough, they failed before long.
