hey guys.....

even though this motor is in a 79 camaro i figured that ya'll might be able to help me out......

i have been helping a neighbor kid with his junk camaro after he and his dad put a rebuilt motor in it and it refused to run again.....it has been a nightmare sorting out all of the stupidity under his hood.....

long story short....after a resetting the valves, restabbing the distributor correctly, resealing the intake manifold, replacing the carb with a rebuilt one, and removing the incorrect egr valve (don't ask) with a block off plate, and many long hours of general heartache the beast lives!!!!!!!

however there is one last problem i can't seem to tune out of it.....

after it gets hot and he goes to turn it off it diesels like a bitch......

any thoughts on causes and cures?????

Hey racemoney, My buddy and I had a problem like that when we built a 350 for his Blazer. We found that the distributer was 1 or 2 teeth off of dead on and in a Blazer with HEI ther was not enough room to time it out right with it like that. We also put a remaned carb from edelbrock and found out the needles and seats were not worth a damn. We couldn't get the air/fuel mix right. Deiseled bad. got another carb and she runs like a striped ass ape!!
