 Post subject: Pics of 1.8 engine

Any one have some good pics of a 1.8 engine so I can see where the smog stuff goes?

Here...I'll describe exactly where the smog stuff goes.

First, remove the air cleaner and carburetor. Replace with Weber.
Remove all vacuum lines except vacuum advance and PCV.
Remove the smog pump belt and smog pump.
Remove the smog pump bracket.
Remove the big aluminum pipe that mounts to the exhaust manifold.
Optionally cut the "pipe nuts" and have them welded shut to reinstall, or...
Remove the exhaust manifold and replace with header.

Now the important step:
Locate a large 40 gallon cylinder in your driveway and deposit all the "smog stuff"

Mine was a california model until my grandpa had the engine rebuilt 22,000 mi ago

The main difference on cali models was that they had a catalytic converter. The carb and vac stuff has a lot of little differences, but if there is a cat on it at least some part of the truck was once from California. If you really want to know all the little stuff, the factory repair manual covers it in complete and mind numbing detail. I picked up a series 9 book on ebay for around $10 shipped.
