well the 1.8 is not the most powerful motor, but you should be able to spin bald 14s on wet pavement. i would run a compression test and see how much compression your motor has. sounds like a tired motor too me. it should be able to spin them stock shouldn't need any performance upgrades. best upgrade i ever did was overhauling the motor. went from 90 psi compression to over 160 psi compression. almost doubled my compression which almost would double the power. i noticed a big difference. the header gave it a little better acceleration, not much of a difference. the weber is great, just got it on the other day. gave me alot more power and acceleration, still not as good as the overhaul though.

by lsd i assume you mean limited slip differential. i dont know what is up with it, but often times it will posi up when i get the tires spining fast enough, or easy enough like in mud.

actually i spun a tire on dry pav. w/ my 2.2l, even though i didn't mean to, the only thing non-stock is the exhaust and a little jimmie-rig.

I had the acc. half down at an intersection then just let out the clutch slowly till it grabbed, let the tires spin a little then dumped it and then let of the acc. till i got traction then took off b4 traffic got held up... i'm suprised what my diesel can do....

forgive my ignorance... but what is a re-ring kit... just all the gaskets for the engine?

New piston rings. Helps restore compression.

well if you want to spin the tires bad u can loosen up the adjuster at the rear brakes below the pads

then u can push the brakes it should roast them cause its only locking up front never tried it yet though

80 percent of your braking is usally up front so it should be somewhat safe to drive

im goin to try it u just reminded me too
