PostPosted: Mon Sep 20, 2004 1:52 pm
I have a friend with a '75 luv truck with a 1.8l auto truck. He cannot find a flexplate ANYWHERE.. He would probably be willing to buy an entire tranny if the price was right. Can anyone please help...

A "flexplate" is what the tourque converter is bolted to. It is also referred to as a flywheel. As crazy as it sounds the bolts backed out of my buddies flywheel, got bugered up and was consequently welded back together. the welds of course have broken and he needs to put it back together correctly. How much do you want for the tranny you have and do you have any idea what it would cost to ship it to the US?

A flywheel and a flex plate are two different things. They are both bolted to the crankshaft and have the starter ring gear on them, but they're not interchangable. I'll take a look at the auto trans I have sitting, but I think the flex plate and torque converter were gone from it when I got the truck it came in. (no motor, just the trans) Just to be clear though, the flex plate on an auto trans sits where the flywheel would on a manual trans. Same spot, looks similar, but not the same thing. (Unless Isuzu got real creative to get an auto in there, I've only owned one auto trans luv so I'm not exactly an expert)

Try ebay. There was a LUV manual tranny for sale there. Who knows what else there might be.
