Where can I get the tie rod ends for my 79 luv 2wd. none of the parts stores can get them, so they say,I would think that would be easy to get (a part that wheres out easy). Or is there one that i can use from another truck?

I just looked them up at http://www.autozone.com . Im not sure if they list them correctly. The outer rods would be different from the inner rod ends. If all else fails, go to NAPA.

I went to Autozone, Napa, Schucks and Kneckts they all said we can order it but when they tried they said it was discontinued. So I pulled one off an 80'luv in a yard. They look simple to make, square tube bar stock thread the ends and get normal tie rod ends for each side. I now have my old one to use as a guide. (I didn’t know that there is no tie rod ends its all one peace with the ball joints pressed into each end). Thanks for the help.

Yes, one side has right handed threads and the other has left handed threads. When you unthread the ends, make a note of the number of threads (full turns) that it takes to remove them. Thread the new ones the same number and lock it in place. This will be close enough so you can drive the truck to an alignment shop.

First I orded the inner Tie rods and I acutally though the inner
were the part that connect the tie rod and the idler arm and pitmarn arm.
The inner are the connected to the Tie rod ends.

I am ordeing them from Napa. I am not suprised if the drivers side will be reverse thread. From http://www.napaonline.com I am trying to order the Idler arm Bushing.
