 I'm trying to remove the egr valve for replacement. I need it to pass smog so I cant just remove it.
I can not get the nut that holds the tube on To brake loose. You know, the one that comes from the exhaust side. That sucker is really on there! I've tryied penetrating oil and I have a 22mm tubing wrench. but it just won't brake loose. Any sugestions?? Ron

Do you have an air hammer and a flat nosed set? The flat set is so you don't destroy the nut. All you have to do is hit the flat part of the nut, where the wrench goes, and that should loosen the crap in the threads. If possible, hit it with the air hammer toward the loosening side.

I was hoping to not have to resort to the air tools but I think thats what's going to happen.
I'm glad you brought it up Grimace because I thought about it but wanted to see if anyone else was that risky/ crazy too. :)
I think I will try letting the eng get warm from idling and try not to burn my hands but see if that helps.
Although its over 100 here in L.A. today so I think I will just go swimming all day and give the ol truck the Ca. sun treatment.
I'll take 100 over what is going on in florida now. I don't think Luv's float very well and they are too light to hold thier ground in that kind of wind. :(

i tryd to get it off and had to resort to an air hammer. might try a torch though to loosen it up.

Soak 'er in gasoline. Sounds pretty redneck, but it shoud strip that gunk right out.

I think I posted an idea something to that effect on this subject a while back. Run it for a bit to get it all warmed up, then melt down a few ice cubes on the nut itself. Manifold hot and expanded, nut cold and contracted. I've never tried it personally, but it seems like it should help a bit for those extra stubborn ones.

if you've got an oxy acet torch then heat up the nut... not the cast iron manifold till its red hot... then wait for the red to just go away... that means that the cast just soaked up most of the heat.. and the cast has expanded while the nut has shrunk slightly. now try to turn it! this worked for me!

Do have enough room to double-up a wrench in there?

If you take out the rubber fenderwell piece and take the tire off you can get to it better, but you're still not talking about alot of room to turn a wrench.
