99.9% of things should fit. There were a few very minor differences though. The side marker lights are built a little different in that they lack chrome trim around them. The only other thing I can think of offhand is that the voltage regulator on the 80 has a round connector and the 79 uses the same square connector used in prior years. You may find a couple of other things that are not exactly the same, but the differences are going to be very slight and shouldn't affect any of the major parts, body or mechanical.

Dead on. LUVs were from 1972 to 82, with a fairly major restyling for the 81-82 models. Isuzu kept making trucks though so Isuzu PUPs from 83 on share a lot with the LUV. They started to change some in about 86, but there were still parts used that are compatible.

Actually, due to my experience with a bum clutch cable, i happen to know that the clutch cable, and some brackets dont exactly match. I had cracked a factory piece (dont ask me how), and had to replace it, but couldnt find an 80 part... so i had to source a 79 unit that i found cheap and available. Apparently, there was a little welding involved (i didnt do the work myself).

Trust me there are plenty of things that don't match up, especially between the major change years...in 76 then again in 81.

I got the 76 and stuff from a 79 in the boneyard worked. But there are others that don't from an 80. So your right!

depends on the parts you're looking for. 4x4's started in 79 so you would be limited to mostly 79-80. Some stuff might fit from 81-82 though. If the parts you want aren't 4wd specific 76-80 should be ok. Then on to 72-75 for yet more... I think in order of preference it would be..

1. 79-80 4wd (and poss. 81-82)
2. 76-80 2wd
3. 72-75 2wd
